Something
different to forget my past journals.
As I'm working on the ninth page of "Post Mortem" and just began to draw another piece I've recognized something.
Sometimes everthing just
works. You scribble around and suddenly you recognize that you are drawing WAY better than you usually do. Everything looks great, looks BETTER, and you are even surprised that you are able to draw something like this. The coloration works, the lineart looks awesome etc. etc.
And the very hard part about this is: You know exactly when you will stop working at this picture and will continue a few days later drawing it again, all these "magical skills" are gone. Just away, as if they never existed. You have to erase every single stroke you do, you aren't sure how to set the colours, you make the same stupid mistakes as ever. And your unfinished piece is just a sad reminder at the wonderful time everything you did looked perfectly.
And all the other pictures you draw later on are just... mediocre, until this wonderful sensation feels like coming back again...
Do you know that situation? Have you ever been carried away by such a "creativity-wave" for some time and then it just
stopped and didn't came back?
Well.. I
had one or another.
The picture "
A spark of magic has been drawn during such a wave --->
[link] I never was able to draw such a fur again, never was able to draw that realistically in Photoshop again.
The picture "
One year" is another one --->
[link] It just
workedYeah, and yesterday I scetched once again and everything came back. All the creativity, the feeling for the picture, my enthusiasm - And from the scetch till the first colourattempts I just was flying on cloud nine because it looked far better than everything I've tried before with humans.
If you want a "sneak-peek", here it is, a WIP of my "Guild Wars" Ranger/Elementalist Takon and his pet-warthog Claw. (And yes... YES I know how
freaky THAT is. XD )
---->
[link]I just started with the coloration of the skin and a little bit of the hair, but it just looks AWESOME so far... but I had to stop because my head was spinning after four hours working on it. x.X
And now I really fear that this "creativity-wave" is gone. Just gone.
I even didn't want to stop drawing yesterday because I kind of
knew that my creativity will fade faster than I think. :/
Well... do you know this? This "creativity-wave", that lets you draw better than you ever did and then just disappears again, and all other pictures after it are far worse than THIS one picture you drew during the "wave"?
I'd just love to hear what your experiences look like regarding this phenomenon.
Post some pictures you finished during such a phase, if you have any! n.n
